du & nichts (you and nothing) persue a form of theatre which is known under the name of “site specific work” or “location theatre.” The performance is adapted to the realitiy of the respective place. For the production no technical means are used in the sense of “a poor theatre” after J. Grotowski. A main element is the neutral mask after E. Decroux.
This year we would like to recommend the anniversary edition of our production “Weißbrot und Magritte — homage to surrealism”. Simple dreamlike stories of symbolic character are presented with the help of objects of everyday use. The actors playfully battle with gravity and get lost in the relativity of time. The dimensions of perception are constantly shifting in a labyrinth of doors and ever new rooms. Finally the fictive characters float off into the sky, grasping for the stars.
